TyneandWearJobs.org was launched in August 2009 and is a member of the Omni Job Board Network, a network of niche job boards targeting every major industry in Tyne and Wear and across the United Kingdom.

The Omni Team

The Omni Job Board Network was created by a team of former HR, recruitment, web design and marketing professionals from North America and Europe disillusioned with the high cost and inconsistent results they experienced using traditional niche and branded job boards serving the Tyne and Wear market.

The Omni Research

Their research revealed that the vast majority of internet job-seekers had little loyalty to major job board brands, instead relying primarily on search engines to deliver relevant and up-to-date job listings in their area. In other words, multi-million dollar advertising campaigns designed to promote brand awareness and loyalty – and passed on to the customer in the high cost of job listings – were futile.

At the other end of the spectrum, independent niche job boards targeted job seekers in a single industry or location. Although generally cheaper – and sometimes free - such websites nearly always suffered from poor design, cumbersome recruiter interfaces and narrow focus offering little exposure to passive job seekers in other areas. Free sites were clogged with generic and duplicated ads.

The Omni Goal

Armed with decades of industry experience and the latest job-board technology, the Omni team set out to design a cost-effective, high-quality recruitment solution combining the rich media content, global reach and advanced recruiter interface of the branded job boards with the local focus of niche industry and location job boards.
